Welcome to “The Entertainment Enthusiast!”

My name is Alli Greco, I’m a junior English major at Johns Hopkins University, and I love to write and explore the world around me. In fact, I love both of these things so much that a year ago, in February 2012, I became a Staff Writer for the Arts & Entertainment section of the JHU News-Letter, which has been around for nearly 100 years! I started off small with reviewing an a capella concert at school, but eventually, my work as a reporter took me on a number of unforgettable adventures – some of them unexpected – and exposed me to the diverse, vibrant, and inexpensive cultural scene of Baltimore, Maryland consisting of such unique locations as the National Aquarium and Center Stage Theater and neighborhoods like Little Italy and the Inner Harbor. Whether observing theater workshops in Midtown or reviewing the newest release at a nearby movie theater, there is always something fun and exciting going on, day and night, that doesn’t have to break the bank.

“The Entertainment Enthusiast” is an offshoot of what I regularly contribute to the News-Letter. My goal is to seek out the best cultural opportunities in exciting destinations while taking into account the limited budgets of many modern travelers. Follow along each week as I post reviews and reports on the most budget-friendly arts and entertainment opportunities not only in Baltimore, but also in northeast US towns and cities. From the most charming Connecticut villages to the bustling streets of New York City, I’ll write about exciting and affordable things to do and see when you visit these locations, including new film releases, museum exhibits, and shopping and dining options. I’ll also share with you pros and cons about each of my adventures, draw on opinions from other entertainment writers, and post fun photos from my travels. You can even comment on each of my posts and share your favorites on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The more I can interact with my readers, and share my experiences and advice, the better! So without further ado, have fun, and bon voyage!
